Marsalforn Bay

Marsalforn is one of Gozo's main coastal resorts and a popular base for visitors exploring the island. The bay is surrounded by a busy waterfront with accommodation, restaurants, cafés and shops, giving it a very different atmosphere from the quieter beaches of San Blas or Ramla.

The sandy beach at the head of the bay is relatively small, but the coastline continues around the waterfront with rocky swimming areas and places to sit beside the sea.

Marsalforn is particularly convenient for visitors who want a beach combined with plenty of facilities and easy access to other parts of northern Gozo.

What can you do at Marsalforn?

🏊 Swim

The bay is a popular swimming location in summer. In addition to the small sandy beach, there are rocky areas along the waterfront where people enter the sea.

🤿 Snorkel

The rocky shoreline around the bay provides opportunities for snorkelling when the water is calm and clear. Take care around swimmers and boats, particularly in busy periods.

🚶 Walk the waterfront

The promenade around Marsalforn is ideal for a relaxed walk beside the sea. Continue around the bay for changing views of the coastline and the surrounding hills.

🍴 Eat and drink

Marsalforn has a large choice of restaurants, cafés and bars. It is an easy place to stop for lunch, dinner, coffee or an evening by the water.

🌅 Enjoy the evening

The resort remains lively after the main beach hours, making Marsalforn particularly suitable for visitors who want their beach stop to continue into the evening.

A lively Gozo beach

Marsalforn is not a secluded beach experience. Its attraction is the combination of sea, swimming, food and a lively waterfront.

For visitors who prefer a quieter natural setting, Ramla, San Blas or Hondoq ir-Rummien may be more suitable. For those who want facilities close at hand, Marsalforn is one of the easiest coastal stops on Gozo.

e-Malta tip: Marsalforn is also a useful base for exploring nearby Qbajjar and the salt pans along Gozo's north coast.
