Walking information
This is best treated as an inland-to-coast walking route rather than a single fixed official trail. The Victoria–Xlendi section can be shortened or extended using local roads and paths. Expect a downhill approach towards Xlendi and an uphill return if walking back to Victoria. Use a map and remain on established routes.
Leaving Victoria
The walk begins in Victoria, Gozo’s historic centre. The Citadel and St George’s Basilica provide an obvious starting point before the route leaves town for the countryside.
Wied il-Lunzjata
The route descends towards Wied il-Lunzjata, a green agricultural valley fed by springs. Cultivated plots, old water channels and vegetation contrast with Victoria’s built-up centre.
Through Kerċem and the countryside
From Lunzjata the route continues towards Kerċem and the countryside above Xlendi. Country lanes and tracks provide changing views across the valley and surrounding hills.
Approaching Xlendi
As the route descends towards Xlendi, the landscape becomes more rugged. The valley opens towards the coast and the steep limestone cliffs around the bay come into view.
At Xlendi Bay
Xlendi provides a natural finish, with a small beach, waterfront, restaurants and access to coastal paths. Walkers can continue towards Xlendi Tower or the southern cliff paths if conditions allow.
