Walking the Sanap cliffs
Sanap forms part of Gozo’s southern cliff line between the Sannat and Xlendi areas. The path crosses open countryside and garrigue before reaching the high limestone edge above the sea.
Views over the Mediterranean
The cliffs provide long views along Gozo’s southern and western coastline. From different points the landscape opens towards Xlendi and the sea.
Sanap and Ta’ Ċenċ
The Sanap walking landscape continues towards the Ta’ Ċenċ area. These cliffs are sometimes described together, although Sanap and Ta’ Ċenċ are distinct sections.
Towards Xlendi
Walking west towards Xlendi brings the route closer to Xlendi Tower and the bay. The coastline becomes increasingly dramatic above the inlet.
Sunset and exposed conditions
Sanap is an exposed coastal landscape with little shade. The open position makes it attractive late in the day, but walkers should avoid the cliff edge in strong winds or poor visibility.
