Walking information
The published Ta’ Ġurdan circuit from Għarb is about 10 km and graded moderate, with some steep inclines and rocky areas. The official walking season is October to May. Western Gozo is exposed, so carry water and take care near cliff edges.
Leaving Għarb
Għarb is surrounded by characteristic rural scenery. Country roads and tracks lead between fields, rubble walls and traditional farm buildings.
San Dimitri Chapel
A short walk from the village leads towards the small chapel of San Dimitri in the countryside. The chapel is associated with a popular local legend involving St Demetrius and a boy taken by raiders.
Wied il-Mielaħ
Continuing through the countryside leads towards Wied il-Mielaħ, a fertile valley running to the western coast. The valley ends at the dramatic natural rock window.
Ta’ Ġurdan and Ta’ Pinu
The longer Ta’ Ġurdan circular route adds Ta’ Ġurdan Hill and Lighthouse and then continues towards Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary before returning through fields to Għarb.
Working countryside
The landscape remains agricultural. Fields and tracks can be privately owned, and walkers should stay on established routes, close gates and avoid shortcuts over rubble walls.
